This was an identity systems project in which I was tasked with creating a fake company and then creating a brand identity for said company. I immediately knew that I wanted to find a way to create something related to aviation, as this has always been a subject of interest for me. I came up with the name Immelman Aerospace from the term Immelmann maneuver. I removed an “n” from my company name because I like the asymmetry of it and I wanted to make it my own – I’m allowed, it’s my company. This company is an aircraft and aircraft parts manufacturer that sells to other business and to the United States government. Immelman Aerospace is at the forefront of technology and is known for putting safety first.
Based on this basic information and some general market research, I began to piece together a brand image. I chose a variety of blues for the colors to go slightly patriotic and of course to make one think of the sky. I proceeded to change the colors a few times and eventually added some orange to give it some life. I created a circuit board pattern to highlight the bleeding edge technology. I eventually settled on a logo that includes an aircraft with a trailing line harkening back to the Immelmann maneuver. These pieces all came together as I began to work on applications for the brand.
